Your New Year Style ResolutionsJanuary 7, 2017
We love the possibilities that a new year brings! Follow these simple, affordable ideas to make a big difference to your home in 2017.
Have a place for everything – incorporating stylish storage throughout your home makes it a breeze to keep your spaces clutter free. And a clutter free home instantly feels good to be in! Woven baskets, suspended shelves and unique wall hooks help to keep everything off the floor, beds and benches, giving a beautiful ‘finished’ feel to your home.

Use smell to evoke the senses. Step through your front door and be transported by a unique scent from some hand crafted candles. We recently discovered a small Australian made brand of candles on a trip to the Melbourne design markets. Aacute have beautiful handcrafted, soy candles that need to be smelt to be believed. Bonfire smoke, salted caramel macaroon, lychee black tea, buttery popcorn and clean linen are just a handful of their range (swoon!)
Give your home some fresh vibes by adding a pop of colour. The Pantone colour of the year for 2017 has officially been declared as ‘Greenery.’ An ode to Spring time joy and the feeling of new life. Be brave and bring this into your home with some amazing wallpaper or start small and choose a vase, throw, towel or some living greenery – check out our recent blog on styling with plants.

Combine textures and different materials to create a luxe, layered look and feel. Leather, wool, stone, natural fabrics, metals and timber will continue to feature heavily, however the focus will change to more earthy hues as saturation of copper, marble and rose gold accents hits it peak.

Create a quiet nook. Find a space away from the hustle and bustle of your main living areas to simply BE. With the increasing amount of time we spend in front of computer/tablet/tv/phone screens, a tech-free sanctuary will refocus your busy mind. Step away from the screens and create a sanctuary for meditation, mindfulness and a space to slow your racing mind. Use throws, oversized, plush floor cushions or a hammock to relax your mind, body and soul.

And don’t forget to shop small – find unique pieces that aren’t available in the chain stores so your home is as unique as you are.
